Setria Glutathione

You saw Setria® on an ingredient label and either wondered what it is, or if it's worth paying more for. Fair question. We've been formulating in Colorado since 2008, and we were the first company to put Setria® Glutathione into a chewable tablet. No water, no capsules, no chalk. Here's what the ingredient actually is, and how to shop for it, and why we use it in Zaca.

What Is Setria® Glutathione?

Glutathione is your body's master antioxidant. Think of it like the cleanup crew working inside every cell, clearing toxins, recycling vitamins C and E, and keeping your liver moving. You make it naturally. You also burn through it fast, especially with alcohol, long flights, hard training, and thin mountain air (which we know best!).

Setria® is a branded form of L-glutathione made by Kyowa Hakko in Japan through a patented fermentation process. It's standardized, non-GMO, and made without synthetic or petrochemical shortcuts and proven for its absorption. That last part matters more than most shoppers realize. Generic glutathione varies wildly batch to batch. Setria® doesn't.

The Research Behind Setria®

Here's why we chose it. A six-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial out of Penn State, tested oral Setria® in 54 healthy adults.

Glutathione levels climbed in red blood cells, plasma, buccal cells, and lymphocytes, some as high as 260%! Natural killer cell activity doubled in the higher-dose group. It was the first long-term human study to show that oral glutathione actually reaches your system, good absorption, which had been debated for years.

Why We Put Setria® in a Chewable

Capsules digest slowly. Powders need water and a shaker. Gummies hide four to eight grams of sugar. We wanted something you'd actually carry to a ski lift or a red-eye flight.

So we built a berry-flavored chewable and stacked Setria® with three more actives: Japanese Raisin (Hovenia Dulcis with DHM) for liver support, L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine for hydration, and prickly pear for antioxidants and trace minerals. We built our formula around the most potent form of glutathione.

And Kyowa's own Setria® team featured our launch on their site, which is not something you can buy your way into.

How to Choose a Setria® Glutathione Supplement

A quick buying guide:

1. Look for "Setria®" on the label, not just "L-glutathione." Generic is a coin flip on quality.

2. Check the format. Chewables absorb fast and travel well. Capsules are slow. Powders are messy.

3. Check what's next to it. Glutathione alone is a one-note formula. Supporting ingredients do more, as in our formula it's combined with three other heavy-lifting ingredients.

Is Setria® better than regular L-glutathione?

It's the better-documented option. Generic L-glutathione has no consistent quality standard behind it. Setria® has published human research and a controlled fermentation process.

Setria® or liposomal glutathione?

Both aim at absorption from different angles. Liposomal wraps glutathione in fat; Setria® has direct human trial data behind it. We went with the research.

Who makes Setria®?

Kyowa Hakko Bio, the same company behind Sustamine®. Both are in every Zaca chewable.

Which supplements contain Setria® glutathione?
