Why Asia Has Secretly Cherised This Raisin For A 1000 Years

Japanese Raisin liver detoxification hangovers

Hovenia dulcis Thunb., known as Japanese raisin tree, is commonly found in East Asia and grows up to a mile high in the Himalayas. It has a long history as a food supplement and traditional medicine in Japan, China and Korea, but is little known and used in Western countries so far.

What's so cherished about it?

Japanese Raisin has long been used in Korean and Chinese traditional medicine to treat fever, parasitic infection, as a laxative, a treatment of liver diseases, and as a hangover treatment.  Its fruit, peduncle and seeds were all used in various combinations.  In addition to detoxification, the plant is also known for hepatoprotective effects (liver protection), antioxidant, antimicrobial and antidiabetic effects.

In short, Japanese Raisin is like what Americans know of Milk Thistle, just in our opinion a more robust version. Of course, we had to put this into our Recovery Chewables
